The event was organised by the European Commission in collaboration with the University of Lisbon and the Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities, under the title of “University Business Cooperation: an efficient blend for innovation”. Glória was rappporteur of two sessions:

  • University-Business cooperation for better and closer trans-border collaboration
  • University-Business cooperation for increasing international outreach and cooperation

In the conclusions session, Glória highlighted the main challenges and opportunities of University Business cooperation (UBC) in the international context, presented a few examples of how UBC helps connecting local and global dimensions and suggested a set of recommendations to overcome the identified challenges.

The University Business Forum (UB Forum) was established in 2008 as part of the European Commission’s initiative aimed at supporting modernisation of higher education and strengthening cooperation between academia and business on a European level. It is a platform bringing closer the key drivers of the knowledge economy and those vital to regeneration and competitiveness of Europe. UB Forum offers an opportunity for higher education institutions, companies, business associations, public institutions and students to present and discuss common issues, share examples of good practice and explore the benefits and value of ongoing cooperation and its strengthening.
