The new annual work programme covers four priority areas:
· Crisis preparedness (€380.9 million, €275 million of which goes to HERA);
· Non-communicable disease (NCD) prevention (€90 million, incl. €16 million for mental health challenges of child, youth, and migrant populations);
· Health systems and healthcare workforce (€126.5 million),
· Digitalisation (€76.6 million).
Cancer is a major transversal issue of the Programme, and will receive €146.9 million in 2022, with more funding going to health promotion and cancer prevention, reducing inequalities and tobacco control policy.
